Dr. Elma Lumsden founded the Temple of Light in 1981, after being introduced to the Science of Mind through the mentorship of Dr. Raymond Charles Barker while working as a nurse in the United States. Upon returning to Jamaica, she began sharing this teaching with others, first by hosting regular study group sessions on her home's veranda.

This initial group of Science of Mind students quickly grew, and through their combined efforts, they could secure the funds to purchase the property we now use as our church grounds.

Our Mission & Vision

Our Centre’s mission is to touch, to heal, to bless, to prosper, to love, and to liberate anyone with whom we come into contact. We do this through educating and teaching, spiritual coaching and counseling; and community building.

The Temple of Light Centre for Spiritual Living is a beacon of collective consciousness, revealing love, joy, peace, and prosperity to all.
