Kingston, Jamaica – A new leadership and entrepreneurship programme led by Dr. the Honourable, Douglas Orane, CD, JP, BSc (Hons.), MBA, Hon. LLD, retired chair and CEO of GraceKennedy Limited, and Rev. Michele Synegal, consultant and senior minister along with Laura Jones, Head of Youth and Family Ministry at the Temple of Light Centre for Spiritual Living has sparked overwhelming interest among young Jamaicans, with over 200 applicants competing for just 30 spots in the Teens & Young Adults Workshop Series.

The free six-week initiative, designed for individuals aged 18 to 25, offered mentorship, career development, and business insights from some of Jamaica’s most accomplished professionals. The inaugural cohort, hosted at the Temple of Light Centre for Spiritual Living, concluded recently, equipping participants with the tools to build confidence, set strategic goals, and explore entrepreneurship.

Strong Demand Signals Expansion
Because of the high demand, Rev. Synegal confirmed that a second in-person cohort will begin on April 26, 2025.
“The overwhelming response shows that young people are hungry for mentorship and opportunities to shape their futures,” Rev. Synegal said.

Leadership Lessons from a Business Icon
One of the programme’s most anticipated sessions was led by Douglas Orane. He shared lessons from his tenure at GraceKennedy and provided firsthand insights about leadership, resilience, and strategic thinking. His discussions covered decision-making under pressure, adapting to change, and building a lasting legacy.
